Alliance Francaise is where we headed with my friends for the Asali album lauch, well i really don't have much to say but, the show kicked off well with awesome curtain raisers that kept people anxiously waiting for the girl of the night Asali to finally launch 'Baba Speak',her debut album
Her back up's singers got on stage in style with an African dance and the rather 'Africanish' look that totally stood out.
I noticed the stage had like really cool set-up bringing out the real african touch, and finally Asali came running from the back giving a really energetic entrance, followed by vigorous dances that were soon joined by the back up's.She had an impressive African design on.
The sound was ok although it could have been better and the attendance wasn't impressive. I had never heard her perform before(sing) although i heard her once do poetry, and of all in the room i was most anxious to hear what she was bringing.
Her genre of music is out of this world, something new to the Kenyan market. It has an African beat sang in English and some Kiswahili with really fast beats and body shaking, and the response was quit good as some people sang a long,as we all know each artist have their own crowd,she seems to have gathered one.
Maybe it was her first stage appearance with her album, that's why she missed bits here and there....but lets watch out for Asali Kenyan music is riding and she will be flying high too.
Generally for a 1st album launch that was good
