Hawa 2 happened and when I say happened I mean it REALLY HAPPENED. Capri7 at Hurligham was not a hard place to locate, I picked up my girl and changed front the annoying pants I had on that day and I was ready to ‘get down’.I pity all those who missed out on this amazing music by the two first ladies (and yes they agree to share the throne haha). Muthoni the Drummer Queen and Dela were on their second tour around Nairobi, which is an initiative of Penya Africa(www.penyafrica.com) for the two ladies to bring people together with their two albums the Human condition and Paukwa respectively.
The rather cool night was a great night to hold the event compared to all the other cold nights that week had, and we may just call it luck, the show was to kick off at 9pm but a few hitches here and there we were on officially at 9:30pm.
Well, when we came from the bar to take our biting, we could barely move around, as the place was full now translating to the now filled parking lots.I was glad to see the usual gang fun and happy people, and we located a nice place away from al the night wind, and we were ready to kick start the night.
DQ was first on stage, well her and the elements (her band) say they bring fever (oh and I mean the good kind) and I couldn't’t wait to get all ‘fevered up’. So DQ and the elements were now on stage, jumping and feeling the beat.
The crowd rather slow to get it to it, but one by one they got on the floor and DQ NEVER disappoints EVER(well personally I don’t know where her energizer batteries are from coz MY GOD) she has crazy energy up on stage and still doing her skill thing on the drums and the drum-pad (I like the way it sound I will learn to play it someday…yeah someday).
So DQ took us down her play list and for those who knew the lyrics, sure helped her sing as they shouted along, and it was when she did ‘Mikono Kwenye Hewa’ her most played track in the airwaves, that the crowd went wild and did the famous ‘Kwenye Hewa’ dance.
She called Dela and they did their new jam (I have BRANDED it already my favourite) well u will have to wait and hear it…. And they did it justice, as the taught us an es and new dance style.
DQ sure thing got people warmed up and they were now geared up for Dela.
Next on the set stage, that had an amazing set up and lighting, got Dela, well I have no one WORD to sum up this energetic young and talented lady, but we were a read to be ‘Dela-fied’.
Captain Dela got on stage(yeah her outfit automatically gave her that name don’t re-read that is true captain Dela) dressed in a short dress and a captain hat, the talent was now ready to wow us with her music.
Her well laid out band soon got on the instruments and the air was soon warmed the amazing voice that got each ones attention, from her album she did he songs and also added in some like ‘Adamu na evah walitenda dhambi ya siri’ (yes the Mary Atieno style and the lead guitar doing their thing-like joy-bring-us you remember that..) and we were soon up on the dance floor enjoying it.
She also did the favourite among her fans ‘Kamares kamares na Dela wa siku hizi ana ringa ringa ringa anatoa wesss kamares….ana dunda dunda Bla bla…' Yeah with the end and the dundaing part. It was a great way to end a Friday night.
This should make u not miss the next tours as the ladies continue with the talent and we will keep you posted on that.
The night ended with a close by Steve Biko(who's BTW has an amazing show on Uptown Radio) this DJ Elektra waaa this chic got the hands on the deck more than any other DJ I have heard in my life, she kept everyone dancing even after the show.
