What is Spread The Love?
It’s love in action. It’s about all of us as Kenyans working together to make positive social change.
Our vision is to see our society transformed for the good by loving one person at a time.
September 2009 is when it all began. A small group of friends joined hands to make the Spread the Love dream a reality. The result? The Spread the Love Festival 2009 which featured top entertainer and musician Kirk Franklin. But an even greater result was the Kshs2 million raised that went towards buying beds and mattresses for inmates at the Industrial Area Remand Prison.
This year, it has evolved into a much larger movement. We are well aware of the ills that plague Nairobi; yet for too long we as residents have lacked a sense of ownership for this green city of ours. Spread the Love is founded on the reality that together we can make our city a better place. And we plan on doing this by touching the lives of those around us by starting with where we live.
You too can be an integral part of this movement! How? It’s simple: all you have to do is spread love to those around you. It could be as simple as buying your workmate lunch, giving your neighbor a ride to town, visiting patients at a hospital, or being a part of a community clean up.
We’ve branded the month of September as the new month of love and we want you guys to go out there and make someone’s day and let us know about it by posting it right here on this wall! Let us also know about other amazing Kenyans out there who are also doing their part to spread the love.
We’ve put together even more exciting ways for you to get involved and you can log onto www.spreadthelovefestival.com to find out how.
Have a great day and remember – touch the lives of those around you; start with where you live. Spread the Love!
