What an early Morning to rise on a Friday I must admit, I have never been that early since I started working.Anyhoo this was one of those Fridays when all your favourite things want to happen at once and u are torn between the good and the best and u want to be in both to at least gather the better….okey that was my poetic moment.
Cece Winans a very well renowned and award winning gospel artist was landing in the country at the wee hours of the morning and we had to go welcome her.
We boarded the car from the Stanley, late a bit to catch her as she checked out, okey we didn’t make it on time but neither did the flight so we were on timeiiiissshhh, as a Kenyan would say African timing.
*Cece Winan’s* I was thinking in my head loud *wow I have admired her and her music for years and here she is*.She finally came out but looked so tired and so did her band members and so didn’t do any interview of take photos I only managed………
(this she is the black cap)…don blame a sister security was tight and she was practically running to her car…moving on though.
Then I was almost giving up on making it to the EABL TPF contestant’s tree planting session at Karura forest so we dashed back to town and onto another cab express to Muthaiga golf club, where we met the convoy so as to go as a group.
I like this lot of guyz Steve, Msechu, Davis, Gabiro, Amileena, Gaelle, Paleki and Rachelle (apparently the house captain.. how does she manage this ‘vichwa ngumuz’ and she is so silent???)anyhoo..
The drive began and we headed into the thick well fenced (sponsored by EABL to a tune of 8.1billion waaaa good money) and maintained forest, and we finally got to the site after like a 15minutes drive.
Soon branded in our Tusker nice t-shirts we were on location getting our hands dirty and planting trees around the bare land.
The forester gave us a few steps to planting the trees and insisted you should always water your seedling after you are done planting. Then this is where the dancing competition started.
Right on the planting pint, ants had a lovely home that they were relaxing on until we showed up little or to no one’s suspicion they were up and ready to attack on everyone who set foot on then… and ooh did they attack first Steve(Ken) was worked on proper…then Davis did the ‘unknown’ dance from the bite and run away…Amileena followed with the leg shake…and it was a whole lot of drama as all got a nice bite from MR ANT and family.
The process was soon done and Kenya Forest Service invited us for a cup of tea and biting’s at their quarters and it was a whole load of fun as all workers came out to pose with the contestants as they enjoyed their tea.
So this weekend we meet up with the not only talented but hardworking Contestants at the dome as they do what they do best, let’s see who says goodbye
